Our Favorite Glass Bar Top Designs to Inspire You

March 1, 2019 | By |

Here at CGD Glass Countertops, our clients love our countertops, but they love our other glass projects as well. That’s because we also specialize in bar tops, sinks, kitchen islands, backsplashes, decorative doors, panels, partitions, table tops, and so much more.

If you’re in the market for a new bar top for your home or commercial business, we encourage you to look at the glass ones we’ve designed for our happy customers. These finished projects ought to inspire you to create your own modern glass marvel.

The Black and White Home Bar with a Simple LED-Lit Bar Top

If you have a home bar, you can class it up with a glass bar top. This client had quite an impressive setup already with their themed black and white bar. Our glass bar top fit right in with the look they had painstakingly created.

For that reason, this bar top is kept purposely simple. It’s thick, rectangular glass with no texture. While the bar top is backlit with our LED lighting, that’s the biggest design flourish. Still, for this backdrop, it works.

A Circular Home Bar with a Bar Top to Match

If you’re tight on room, then a circular bar lets you live out your dreams of having a bar at home without being a space hog. Finding a circular bar top to match might seem like a major inconvenience…until you call us at CGD Glass Countertops. We designed this glass bar top to fit the dimensions of the wooden bar the client already had right down to the letter. Once again, our LED lighting is prominently featured here.

A Backlit Glass Bar Top for a Dark Commercial Bar

If you own a bar, you probably keep the lighting down. That creates the homey ambiance that keeps people coming back for more, right? Yet you also want your barkeeps to be doing their best, fastest work.

If visibility is a bit of an issue in this scenario, you’ll love our backlit glass bar top. Like the other examples we’ve showcased, this curvy bar top will light up for hours with vivid white LED lights. This client also chose our Aqua Clear blue base for their glass addition. Smart pick!

The Commercial Curvy Bar Top with Texturing

Our final pick is work we did on another commercial bar. Again, this is a darker establishment, so the LED lighting is appreciated. This client also used our Aqua Clear blue base for their curvy bar top. They got the glass textured as well. You can see how the LED lighting brings out every last detail of the texture to amazing effect.

Did you like the glass bar tops you saw here? Remember that when you work with us at CGD Glass Countertops, you can customize your bar top or any other glass item to your liking. Whether you want to adjust the size, shape, glass texture, or color, the options are yours.

To get started today, give us a call at 416-398-9733.

Our Sinks with LED-Backlit Countertops Are a Must-Have This Winter

February 18, 2019 | By |

It feels like winter is going to last forever. While there are some short reprieves with temporary warmer weather, the snow keeps returning, slamming parts of the country over and over. When the temperatures are just barely out of the single digits, of course you want to stay as warm and toasty in bed as you can.

Sometimes you have to get up in the middle of the night and hit the bathroom. In the unforgiving darkness of night, you can stumble down the freezing cold hallway until you reach the bathroom. The porcelain or tile floor is chilly against your feet, and you just want to get back to the warmth of your bed. Before you do though, you trip and stumble your way through the room.

It doesn’t have to be like that anymore. Here at CGD Glass Countertops, our backlit countertops integrated with our glass sinks will make your middle-of-the-night bathroom trips quick, easy, and efficient.

First, let’s talk about the sinks we offer at CGD. Whether you’re interested in a traditional sink, a vanity, a pedestal sink, a wall-mount sink, or even a vessel sink, we can help you design the one of your dreams. The shape, size, and glass color used for your sink are completely up to you. You can even combine several hues for a truly one-of-a-kind bathroom addition.

Why stop there? Our glass countertops are our specialty and namesake. They’re among our best-selling products. Whether you have a sink that sits atop the countertop or is built into it, we will work with you to create an awesome backlit sink.

Yes, that’s right. CGD Glass Countertops offers backlighting for almost every countertop we design. You can choose from single-color light hues like white, green, red, or blue. If you’re feeling especially colorful, you can even get a light that cycles through all the shades. Since it’s an LED light, you know it’ll last you for years. You’ll also get superior illumination.

Imagine having to get up to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night and not having to bump your way through the bathroom. There’s no more waking up your spouse or kids with all your rummaging. You’re also less likely to bruise or otherwise injure yourself. It’s a win-win for sure!

If you’re ready to begin designing your LED-backlit bathroom countertop, we give you plenty of freedom here at CGD. First, you can select the glass thickness. One and a half inches, one inches, ¾ inches, and half an inch are standard. Next, choose from our Ultra Clear or Aqua Clear glass base.

If you want your glass bathroom countertop to be textured, you can do it through our services. We offer a variety of glass textures sure to suit any mood or style. Some of these are very ornate while others are simpler. Once you pick a texture you love, you can add edge work, a surface treatment, a substrate, and finally, our LED backlighting.

Is This the Year Your Kitchen Gets a Glass Backsplash?

February 4, 2019 | By |

With January over, you’ve probably spent the past month recouping from the financial strain of the holidays. Now you’re ready to hit the go button on some of the home remodeling projects you’ve had in mind.

While plenty of these projects are worth doing, maybe you should put backsplash installation at the top of the list. After all, haven’t you been putting this kitchen remodel off for too many years?

Here at CGD Glass Countertops, we’re experts in more than just countertops. We sell an array of glass furniture, accent pieces, and other household items, among them backsplashes. If you still need a slight nudge, here are several reasons 2019 should be the year you get a new kitchen backsplash from CGD.

1. Backsplashes Are Very In

If you’re the type who follows what’s trendy, then you definitely need a backsplash like yesterday. Even as we start a new year, this home remodeling trend continues to be a popular one. We don’t see that changing anytime soon.

2. You Like a Clean Kitchen, Right?

How many hours do you lose each week cleaning your kitchen? What if we told you that you could cut that time down if only you had a glass backsplash? The backsplash’s job is to catch food prep messes as they accumulate. At the end of the week, you only have to clean the backsplash, not your walls.

3. Glass Backsplashes Are Incredibly Easy to Tidy up

Speaking of cleaning, you’re going to be amazed how easy is it to keep your glass backsplash looking spotless. Our glass products all clean up incredibly fast, requiring only a soft cloth, some dish soap, and water. Make sure you wipe in a uniform direction to prevent streaks on the glass.

4. You Can Finally Justify That Expensive Kitchen Wallpapering

If you’ve been waiting to order a fabulous new wallpaper for your kitchen because your walls are always dirty, we’d say now is a great time to go through with it. With our backsplashes, you no longer have to stress about filthy walls, even if you or other family members cook all the time. The backsplash will keep your kitchen looking cleaner.

5. There Are Endless Color, Shape, and Design Options

If you need a longer, more rectangular backsplash, you can order one through CGD Glass Countertops. Circular, angular, or any shaped backsplashes are available as well. At CGD, it’s all up to you. You get to select the size, shape, color, and design of your backsplash, customizing it to your liking.

Instead of banging your head against a wall trying to find a backsplash that fits your kitchen décor, you can create one that’s a perfect match.

What Are You Waiting for? It’s Time to Order Your Backsplash from CGD Glass Countertops

Have we convinced you that a glass backsplash is right for you? If so, then we’d love to hear from you. You can give us a call or contact us right on our website. We can even provide you a quote so you can get your new backsplash project rolling.

Five Great Customization Ideas for Glass Items

January 17, 2019 | By |

One of the best parts about ordering your glass products from us at CGD Glass Countertops is the range of customization options we provide. We’re unmatched in that area, since we essentially let you design your glass item from the ground up. Anything you want, from shape to size, color, and even backlighting, we can provide.

With so many options at your fingertips, it’s possible for you to get overwhelmed. We understand that all our customization choices are a lot to take in at once, so we thought we’d make it easier for you. Here are five customized glass items our past clients have ordered and loved. Let them serve as inspiration for your own glass project.

1. Textured, Backlit Backsplashes

Is your backsplash a little boring? It’s okay to admit it. These oft-overlooked yet very valuable kitchen features often lack pretty designs, until now. Our glass backsplashes can be textured any way you want. In this instance, the client chose a texture that looks like running water. With the colored glass and LED backlighting, that watery effect is played up to its fullest. It looks great!

2. Etched, Frosted Glass Doors

When it comes to the quality of our glass doors, you can’t find anything better than CGD Glass Countertops’ and our sister company, CBD Glass’ doors. Just take a look at this glass door to see what we mean.

This translucent door is almost entirely frosted for looks and privacy. The only translucent areas are those that are hand-designed to look like a sprouting tree. Small touches of color for the leaves make for a stunning finishing touch.

3. Art-Worthy Glass Partitions

While some homeowners collect works of art, others make their own home art-worthy. Such is the case for this client, who got amazing glass partitions installed in the openings of their living room. The unique, beautiful design they had carved on the glass is just a small taste of what CGD Glass Countertops can do you for you if you order your glass partitions through us.

4. Vivid Vessel Sinks

If your sink is lacking depth, literally and figuratively, then why not try one of our vessel sinks? These architectural beauties are raised yet quite deep. This particular sink has dark colors like brown, golden yellow, copper, and black that make it quite interesting to look at. A sink like this will spruce up the look of your bathroom for certain.

5. Sleek, Modern Glass Countertops

If you bought an older house that still has Formica or otherwise outdated countertops, you’ll love the look of this modern marvel. This pale aqua blue glass with a simple texture and smooth, curvy edges really livens up this client’s kitchen. You can even get your countertop backlit so it illuminates your kitchen at night.

If any of the five examples jumped out at you or got your creative juices flowing, we’d love to hear from you. Those are just some samples of what we can do, but the rest is up to you!

Budgeting for a New Glass Project in 2019

January 7, 2019 | By |

After reading through this blog, you’ve decided that 2019 is going to be the year you finally take the plunge and order a glass countertop, tabletop, or other item from CGD Glass Countertops. We’re so glad to hear you’re making this decision, as we’re sure it’s one you’re going to be pleased with for years to come. With our range of customization as well as our reputation for stellar customer service, you’re in the right hands.

There’s just one thing stopping you from getting started right away: money. That’s certainly understandable, considering the oft-expensive holiday season just passed. If you have your sights set on a new glass project with CGD Glass Countertops this year, here are some handy budgeting tips.

Be Realistic

While you may want your glass project tomorrow, if that’s not financially feasible right now, then it’s not financially feasible right now. You have to create a realistic timeframe for which the project can be ordered and then completed. The year has just started, after all, so there’s no need to rush. You have 11 more months to get your glass project the way you want it.

Get a Quote

At CGD Glass Countertops, we can provide you a quote if you contact us via our website. The more information we have about your project, including measurements and blueprints, the better. If you have any drawings that can further illustrate what your dream glass project looks like, that helps us, too.

We’ll formulate a quote and get it to you fairly quickly from there. Once you receive the quote, you can begin planning the next phases.

Start Saving

Namely, the next phase you’re going to want to focus on is saving money. Depending on what the quote is, you might be able to set aside some money over the next few months and have enough for your glass project after six or seven months. If you have a spouse, you can ask them to save as well so you can get closer to your goal sooner.

Cut Back

You know the saying that money saved is money earned, right? It’s true, especially if you’re trying to stick to a budget. Track every expense for a few weeks, from small things like Starbucks runs to bigger ones like paying bills. Then, see what’s extraneous and can be cut out for the time being.

We’re not recommending you strip your life of anything and everything fun, but every dollar you set aside puts you nearer the completion of your glass project with CGD.

Consider Financing

If the project is of a bigger or more expensive scope than anticipated, you can always look into your financing options. Taking out a short-term or long-term loan will help bridge the gap between the money you saved and the money you still need for your glass project. As the project is being completed, you can begin repaying the loan.

Give Us a Call

If you’re hankering for a new glass project from CGD Glass Countertops this year, we encourage you to get in touch with us today. We look forward to hearing from you!

Need a More Organized Bathroom? Try Our Glass Bathroom Countertops

December 18, 2018 | By |

The kitchen may be the main hub of your home, especially during busy mornings, but the day starts for everyone (at different times, of course) in the bathroom. If your bathroom is too small, then it doesn’t take long at all for the room to become utter chaos. From makeup to hair dryers, deodorant, and other personal hygiene items scattered about to dirty sinks and tubs, even you’re sometimes afraid to step foot into your bathroom. You know that when you do, it’s going to take you hours before you can leave the room because the cleanup effort is that big.

You don’t have to live like that anymore. Here at CGD Glass Countertops, we specialize in countertops in many rooms of the house, the bathroom among them. Your bathroom doesn’t have to be a mess zone if you have an adequate countertop for storage.

Right now, you’re likely working with the scant sink space you have in your bathroom, right? Maybe you have a medicine cabinet behind the glass mirror or underneath the sink. If you’re especially lucky, then you have two cabinets.

Still, it doesn’t seem to be enough space for a full family who’s always bustling from place to place. This is where our countertops come into play. By expanding the size of your countertop, you automatically have more storage room in your bathroom.

If you do only have a single cabinet or two, we can more than double that. Take a look at one such bathroom countertop we installed for a happy customer.

There are two small cabinets between the double sinks. Directly beneath both sinks are dual-doored deep cabinets. Under those are three more sliding drawers. If you need even more room, there’s a hidden middle cabby for stashing bathroom essentials like hair dryers, curling irons, hair spray, towels, or whatever you want.

Oh, and yes, our cabinets can come outfitted with dual sinks. If you’re often fighting with family members in the morning to get into the bathroom, those days will be over. Everyone can have their own side, be that you and your husband or even parents on one side and kids on the other.

Another great feature that our CGD customers often quite enjoy is our LED lighting. If you’d prefer, we can install stunning LED lights in your countertop so it glows around the clock. Whether you like simple white lights or want a bit of color (we do red, green, and blue), we want to work with you. You can even select color-changing lights that switch from one bright hue to another.

From a safety standpoint, LED lights are a great addition to your bathroom. The space will be safer for those late-night visits that inevitably happen to everyone. Whether it’s your spouse or your kids, you don’t have to worry about anyone tripping or hurting themselves in the dark.

If you’re ready to begin discussing your bathroom countertop project with us, then give CGD Glass Countertops a call today at 416-398-9733.

3 Great Tips on Glass Island Placement in the Kitchen

December 3, 2018 | By |

After months of budgeting and researching, you’re finally ready to start seriously planning your kitchen island upgrade. Congratulations are certainly in order at this point, as you’re making a decision that will beautify your kitchen for years to come.

If you haven’t quite settled on where to buy your kitchen island, we must recommend our services here at CGD Glass Countertops. We specialize in all things countertops, but our kitchen items are also some of our most popular. With our thick, durable glass, texture and coloring options, and even LED lights, our kitchen islands are far from average.

We encourage you to browse around on our website to see the many gorgeous kitchen islands we’ve designed for past clients. Remember that those are just examples and we can design your kitchen island just about any way you want. After all, we customize almost all our glass items.

Once you find a countertop you love, how do you go about sizing it so you can be sure it fits in your kitchen? Here are three tips and pointers for the ideal kitchen island placement.

1. Islands Don’t Have to Go Square in the Middle of the Room

Forget the notion that your glass kitchen island must be perfectly centered. That’s not true at all. The whole purpose of your kitchen island is to have a convenient space in which to prepare food and do other kitchen duties. If the island is too far from the fridge, the dishwasher, or outlets, it’s pointless.

2. Watch Your Width

During holidays like Thanksgiving, Christmas, and other big occasions, if you need extra dining space, your glass kitchen island comes in handy. Even if you never use the island for anything other than food prep, it’s best to design it with room for seating. It’s recommended that the bottom of the island has a decent clearance that’s at least nine inches. If you can, try for 13 inches.

You also need to plan for the width of the island. There should be at least 24 inches of space so a few loved ones could sit comfortably around the island without banging elbows.

3. Make Room Around the Rest of the Kitchen

It can be an adjustment to have a kitchen island if your kitchen has been a wide open space for years. You and the rest of your family will have to get used to this huge addition in the middle(ish) of the room.

To avoid bumped elbows, hips, and knees, the placement of your glass kitchen island is very important. You should accommodate for at least 36 inches of free space on the four sides of the island. If you can, 48 inches is preferable. This way, everyone has the room to navigate the kitchen without hitting the island, even on those busy days.

If you need help getting your glass kitchen island placement just right, call on us at CGD Glass Countertops. We only need some measurements of your kitchen as is and we can help you install the kitchen island of your dreams.

Wouldn’t You Like a New Countertop for the Holidays?

November 15, 2018 | By |

More so than any other time of the year (except maybe summertime barbequing season), your kitchen is about to see a lot of action. The holidays are soon to be upon us, which means you’ll be busy all day prepping and cooking turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce, goose, duck, and maybe a pumpkin pie or two.

You’ve made the holidays work in past years, but your kitchen sure feels cramped. Wouldn’t it be nice to have more food prep space? Better yet, wouldn’t it be awesome if that food prep space cleaned up easily?

With a glass countertop from CGD Glass Countertops, you’ll be ready for everything the holidays has to throw at you, literally and figuratively.

Here at CGD Glass Countertops, our specialty is in our name. We’re Toronto-based experts in all things glass accent items and furniture, but it’s our countertops we’re the most known for. That’s partly due to our exemplary craftsmanship as well as giving our customers the ability to customize almost all the items we sell. Yes, that includes the countertops.

No matter which room needs more counter space, we can make it happen for you. Our past happy clients have opened up their bathrooms with glass countertops, for instance. We also have many kitchen counter solutions. Let’s cover them now.

Tabletops

If you’re relatively happy with a kitchen or dining table but wish it looked a little different, our glass tabletops are the perfect addition. They are cut to fit over preexisting tables. Cleaning your tables now becomes far faster, since glass cleans up with just a wet soft cloth and some soap.

Bar Tops

If you’re lucky enough to have a home bar, then we think you’ll be interested in our glass bar tops. These create an atmosphere of sophistication and beauty for any home bar. Your friends and family will want to spend hours hanging out here!

Raised Countertops

Our raised countertops are wondrous to behold. They can fit above or even over your preexisting countertops to create a stunning look that will get everyone talking about your kitchen. This is yet another viable option if you enjoy your current countertops but wish you could do a little something different.

Standard Kitchen Countertops

Our standard kitchen countertops are our namesake for a reason. These beautiful, sleek, timeless countertops will improve the appearance of any kitchen. They’re made of a thick, durable glass and can be textured as you like. You can even select the color of the glass, any edge work, surface treatments, substrates, and LED backlighting. The kitchen countertop of your dreams is finally at your fingertips!

Kitchen Islands

Finally, you might elect to get a glass kitchen island installed in your kitchen as well. This gives you double the food prep space, which is often necessary around this time of year. Our kitchen islands can be designed much like our glass kitchen countertops. The final result is completely up to you.

If you’re ready to expand your kitchen for the holidays, then call us at CGD Glass Countertops today at 416-398-9733.

The Many Benefits of Glass Partitions for the Office

November 1, 2018 | By |

Keeping your employees productive is the key to a thriving company with high revenue. Admittedly, there are tons of distractions that can send employees straying from their productivity goals. Whether it’s watercooler chat, hallway conversations, or extended stays in the breakroom, one way to get everyone more productive is by reducing these distractions.

That’s why we recommend glass partitions for both office and home use. You’d be surprised what glass partitions from CGD Glass Countertops can do for your office’s productivity. Here are some benefits to expect.

Less Noise = More Focus

Some employees aren’t tempted by watercooler or breakroom distractions. They can stay on the ball, but the noises of the office around them gradually wear down on their concentration. The sounds of phones ringing, several conversations being held within earshot, heavy footfalls, the clickety-clacking of keyboards, and other noises make it hard to get through the day.

While glass partitions can’t eliminate all these noises, they can reduce them somewhat. Working in an even slightly less noisy environment may be able to renew an employee’s focus.

More Privacy Reduces Distractions

For those employees who are prone to distractions or even go looking for them, glass partitions are still smart. These partitions provide privacy to all employees. It’s no longer as easy to peek over to the next desk to start small talk. That will keep employees working on the tasks assigned to them.

Improved Office Aesthetics Make for a Happier Office Environment

The look and feel of your office should always be a paramount concern. A nice-looking office makes employees happier. After all, most employees are at the office more often than they’re at home. If they need to be at work, then they should get an office that looks as nice as it can be. Glass partitions can help you achieve that goal.

Order Your Glass Partitions Today

Now that you’re convinced that glass partitions can boost the productivity of your office, we encourage you to contact us at CGD Glass Countertops. We’re a Canadian-based glass manufacturer that specializes in customized items. These include panels, glass sinks, glass countertops, decorative glass doors, partitions, tabletops, bar tops, and glass kitchen islands.

All our items can be designed your way. You might consider opaque glass partitions to really cut down on distractions. For added visibility, we also have plain translucent partitions available. The size, shape, and glass thickness is also up to you. You can even select if you want the glass textured for a nicer look around the office.

Once you’re sure you’ve selected the right glass partition(s) for you, you can contact us via phone at 416-398-9733 or by email at info@cgdglass.com. You can also use our website to fill out an online form about the project. We ask for blueprints, drawings, measurements, or whatever you have that will aide us in the project. We can then get you a more accurate quote and work can begin.

If your office is suffering from a lack of productivity, glass partitions can be part of the solution.

Does Your Office Kitchen Need a Glass Backsplash?

October 15, 2018 | By |

As an employee of your company, it’s everyone’s job to pitch in and keep the common kitchen area clean. You wish others had that same mentality, because whenever you’re in there, the place is always sticky, messy, and in desperate need of a thorough cleaning.

Even when you or someone else takes the time to clean the place up, there are some questionable stains on the walls that just won’t come off. You scour, you use dish soap or even a harder cleaner, but the stains are just stuck. It’s like they’ve become one with the paint or wallpaper.

It’s important to have a clean office kitchen for a multitude of reasons. The first is for the health of you and all employees. The messier this environment is, the germier it often is, which means spreading illnesses across the office.

Another reason is for your company’s reputation. When potential clients come to visit, it seems likely they’ll stop in the office kitchen at least once to make a pot of coffee, grab some water, or have a light snack. If they see that conditions are less than sanitary, they could change their minds about doing business with your company.

There is a pretty simple way to clean up your office kitchen for good: with a glass backsplash. CGD Glass Countertops specializes in glass items of all types, among them decorative glass doors, glass panels, partitions, glass sinks, and glass countertops, bartops, and tabletops.

A backsplash is installed over the wall or walls of your kitchen. It catches those inevitable messes that accrue when several employees are in the office kitchen at once preparing different meals.

Our backsplashes are available at thicknesses of 1/4th of an inch to 3/8th of an inch. CGD Glass also has two glass options to choose from for our backsplashes: Ultra Clear or Clear. Both are translucent, with one clearer than the other.

Once you select the glass thickness and translucency of your backsplash, you can move on to designing its texture and color. That’s right! Here at CGD Glass Countertops, we allow our customers to design our glass items completely from scratch. Your office kitchen backsplash can blend in with the walls or stand out, almost as a unique piece of art.

Get your glass backpainted if your heart desires. This is a special service from CGD where we will paint the back layer of the glass so the color reflects throughout the whole backsplash. Our backsplashes and many of our other glass items can also be textured if that’s something you’re interested in.

Regardless of the options you choose, having a backsplash in your office kitchen will make this space much cleaner. Now, instead of stains and other messes ruining the walls, the backsplash will catch them all. Cleaning the backsplash is simple, too, as you just need a soft cloth and some soap. It’ll take minutes and then you’re back to your day.

What are you waiting for? Give CGD Glass Countertops a call today!
